A suggestion for new possibilities in language

Someone with the handle of "VT" made a fascinating comment on an Al-Jazeera blog this AM.  She observed that dictators have often made use of the possessive adjective when describing their subjects, as in; These are "my" people. It would be great to have non-possessive forms of words that refer to people. I think the same distinction should be made with interpersonal relationships, like "my" wife, or "her" friend. Thinking through the languages that I'm familiar with, I don't know of any that have this subtle quality... I like the use of "who" instead of "that" when referring to human beings - this could provide the same possibility.
